Something went wrong, please check your authorizations

Been having trouble getting Authorize.net set up. Was getting (13) The merchant login ID or password is invalid or the account is inactive.
Added the homepage under Account > Response / Receipt . Then the Authorize card details page came up, and after submitting that I got this error:
“Something went wrong, please check your authorizations”. All the plugins are up to date, and I copied and pasted the API keys exactly.
I am using the Live/Production API in Test Mode. Is that the wrong mode?
It seems most of the transactions went through. And the latest one in Live/Production API rather than Sandbox which I used before says processing and I got an email receipt for it. It just didn’t finish off properly after submitting.
