Something went wrong while fetching events.
    The request status is: 200
The error thrown was: SyntaxError: expected expression, got ‘<‘

Hi all – firstly, I do wish to thank you for what seems like a great plugin. However…as you can see I’m having some issues. I think it was working ok originally, and maybe broke after the upgrade to 2.1.9. It always displays the default month view OK, so at first I didn’t notice anything was wrong…

…then I discovered that if I tried to do *anything*, like switch to Agenda view, I’d get a 404 error. I looked through the support requests here, and tried a couple things – like changing the theme and timezones back and forth. That did do something…because instead of a 404 I now get a 200.

I’ve tried disabling all other plugins as well as trying the Twenty Fifteen theme to see if there was any conflict there…same issue.

The site in question is in dev…not live. You can see the calendar page at https://www.northrupsystems.com/source/index.php/store-info/event-calendar/

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi, what i get is a 404 and it seems to be caused by server config https://take.ms/Dud1C

OK…so…what is it about the server that isn’t configured right? I have no idea what to even go look at…

    Me neither, espacially IIS.
but if you said that you checked for plugin and theme conflicts, that’s the most likely cause. Can you ask your host?

    Well, herein lies the problem…

The server is my own…on which many existing WP sites are running, with many different plugins, and none of which exhibit any issues.

And earlier your plugin had been working correctly. As noted, I didn’t notice any issues until after the latest update…

Nothing on the server itself has changed.

…here’s one other thing that seems strange about it…

If I access the calendar on my phone, it correctly shows the Agenda view instead of the Month view. Trying to switch to the Agenda view from the Month view on a PC gets the error…and likewise, trying to switch to a view other than Agenda on the phone gets the error.

The stuff is there. Otherwise it couldn’t show the Agenda on the phone for example. It just doesn’t know how to switch, or do anything else.

Can you turn off permalinks and see if the issue persist?Or try to simply refresh permalinks. You can find them under Settings / Permaliks. Also how do you display the calendar?Because if you notice the calendar is on page
    https://www.northrupsystems.com/source/index.php/store-info/event-calendar/

while the links point to https://www.northrupsystems.com/source/index.php/

    calendar

    /action~month/exact_date~1422825961/request_format~html/

that’s probably what’s causing the issue

OK, I changed the permalink setting, and then the calendar started working again. Put the permalinks back the way I wanted them…still worked.

I’m not sure how the “calendar” page ever wound up there…I only ever wanted it on the Event Calendar page, where it’s used via shortcode.

Wound up using a plugin to hide the Calendar page, because I discovered that deleting it made the problem come back. So it’s still there…but just hidden.

    Thanks for the help!

Yes you have to keep it hidden but set

Thanks for the tips here. I had the same problem. I changed a setting on the All-in-One Event Calendar: Settings –> General –> Advanced page and just saved the settings and it worked.

Hey DoctorWho243, that worked for me. I was just about to give up.
    Thanks for posting.

Got the same problem, but it persists even after I refresh permalinks. When I switch to default mode view-switching works, but not with permalinks. Thas’a nuisance. Any ideas? I got nginx.
Seems like any button on a calendar which is inserted with a shortcode on a page produce errors like this:

Something went wrong while fetching events.
    The request status is: 200
The error thrown was: SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data

I can’t switch off the permalinks, that will ruin the site’s rating in search systems.
