I’ve followed the instructions and set everything up I believe to the T.
However whenever I enter the details in my WP site and submit it succeeds, but nothing happens. It seems that the website isn’t connecting to my server.

It could be potentially that the ports are blocked, in which case I’m SOL because I’m on a universities Internet, and can’t unblock ports.

P.S. – Fairly new to website creation etc. so I may be missing something obvious.

Follow up – Checked the ports online, and the university has them blocked, is there anyway to get around this?

The only way to get around it would be if you know that certain ports are not blocked. You can configure both MySQL and SAM Broadcaster to use different port numbers.

Keep in mind, if you change the port that MySQL uses, you will need to reinstall SAM Broadcaster to run the SAM Broadcaster installer again to tell SAM to use the new port number as well. You do NOT need to uninstall it first, you simply need to re-run the installer, choose custom connection details for you database, and enter the port number there.

You’re probably gonna be out of luck. Blocked ports may actually only part of the problem. If you don’t have your own unique internet IP address, there are routing concerns as well. The other is that the database and SAM both need to be able to accept incoming connections. When these connection requests come in, your university’s routers won’t know to send them to your system.
