Something’s trippy with my search…

I have a search.php page that only appears with results when I search from the site-home.php template I designed. When I do a search in the blog (which is index.php) I get results in the blog template page. And when I run a search in a regular page I get the blog page with no results found. How can I get all queries to give me results in the search.php template, regardless of the page where the search originated? And how come I’m not getting results searching from a regular page? Are there different results functions for each type of search or filtered by source?
