    Hi,

Not sure if I’m doing something wrong, or expecting the widget to do something it’s not supposed to.

When I try to do a search, and only select one item from the first or second dropdown list, I get the following message :-

“Sorry, but nothing matched your search terms. Please try again with some different keywords.”

I am leaving one of the dropdown lists as ALL, which definitely should display some results for the other selection. Do I have to have a selection from both dropdown lists for this widget to work?

The link to the site is – https://www.africasafarico.com.au

    Hope you can help.
    Steve

    Hi spotter698,

Can you please share a screenshot of your widget configuration?

    Hi Agustin,

Thanks for the quick response. Here is the link to view the widget configuration –

I have included two images to display the two categories selected (ie “Country” + “Travel Experience”).

    Hi spotter,

    Thank you for the screenshots.

Did you read the notice at the bottom of the widget? The one which says:

Please notice that when using “and mode” the search will be
done against posts which strictly belongs to selected categories in the
search widget. For example, lets say you have posts about bycicles
and have the following categories: Condition with new and used as subcategories
and colour with blue and white as subcategories. When a visitor searches for
keyword “alterrain” and selects All for condition and All for colour he will
obtain the bycicle posts which are marked as belongin to the general categories
“condition” and “colour”. If they belong to “white” but not to “Colour” they will
be not displayed in the result.

Could your problem be realted to this?

BTW, which version of the plugin are you using?

Thanks Agustin, and yes I did read the “and mode” issue.

I am happy for it to use the “and mode”, but I would assume that if I select a “COUNTRY” (eg Botswana), and leave “TRAVEL EXPERIENCE” as ALL, it should select all the various Travel Experiences, plus whatever Country is selected.

    COUNTRY = Botswana
TRAVEL EXPERIENCE = ALL (nothing selected)

In other words, it should display all holidays to Botswana, which is the only selected item. Am I right in thinking this? If not, is there any way to enable this?

    I’m using Version 0.2.5 of the plug-in

    Hi spotter,

I understand that you could assume that, but that’s not the way the plugin was intended to work even though I agree with you that that is the way anyone would expect it to work.

To make it work the way you want it would be necessary to change it’s logic modifying it’s code.

I can do that in my free time but I can’t give you right now an ETA for it to work the way you want. I’m sorry about it.

    Hi spotter,

I made a new version of the plugin working as you expect. But it needs some testing, so if you want to try it, please contact me at ajberasategui at gmail dot com so I can send you the new version.

    Agustin.

    Hi Agustin,

With such a great plug-in, this slight modification would make it absolutely perfect.

You are doing great work, keep it up, and THANK YOU.
