I made a test where a related post plugin was already installed – Contextual Related Posts. I installed Sosere and waited some weeks.
Then I took a look at the results for one post with only one tag “spam” – category does not count on my site as I don’t use them really.

Sosere was unable to find any relatad post with the “spam” tag. Contextual Related Posts gives all results with the “spam” word inside. I made a screecapture to prove it.
So how is it supposed to work ? Do I have to wait 3 monthes ?

The concept looks good but it’s an epic fail for me.

Update: the plugin works as is intented. As it analyses the visitor behaviour… well, the “related” posts depend on the way the visitors crawl your site. Useless for my need.

Please provde a email to [email protected] and include a link to the special post you used to evaluate the plugin and used version of sosere. We will try to find out why it doesn’t working for you and fix it if it’s a bug.

Hi,
I can’t see any SOSERE recommendations. Please check if it’s a page and “Include pages and custom types” is checked on settings page and – more important – “Hide recommendations” is not checked. You should see recommendations from the first moment, but it becomes better over time because of user behavior data.

I see. The good news is SOSERE is working fine. The bad news is it doesn’t fit your expectations. You are looking for same keywords, SOSERE for readers interests. Try some A/B testing and evaluate readers engagement. This is the point in using that kind of plugins.

So “Using a unique algorithm considering categories, custom taxonomies and tags” is not considering Tags ? Well, I modify my evaluation.

You are right, but tags are not the main data source. SOSERE is a hybrid system with dynamic rate between context & colloborativ rate. The theory behind is described here: https://demo.sosere.com/2014/05/07/hybrid-recommendation-systems/ So it could happend, that no reader click on a simmilar post but on another becouse of he get allready the infomation he looked for and wont to read something from a releated field but another topic. For example: If you have read a book about css-basics, would you like to read another book about css-basics? Not? But it fits perfectly on the key words and context. You might want to read a book on JavaScript or PHP because you want to create a WordPress theme.
