There seems to be a problem with your site. Every time the plugin tries to register a page view your blog responds with a 500 Server error, preventing WPP from writing to the database.

This could be either related to a corrupted WordPress setup or by another plugin. Tru enabling WP_DEBUG on your site and check for errors.

Seems like both WP Exec PHP and WP Super Cache are also having problems on your site. Try this:

1. Disable all of your plugins, except for WPP.
2. Visit one of your posts while logged out from wp-admin.
3. Log back in and check the Stats section (Settings > WordPress Popular Posts).

If WPP was able to register your visit: at least one of your plugins is causing the issue. Enable them one by one and repeat the process until WPP stops working again. That way, you’ll find the culprit.

If WPP was unable to register your visit: the problem is being caused by something else (corrupted WordPress setup, issue on the server side, etc).

It seems to be Polylang cause the problem

Ah, yes. Someone else some time ago also reported 500 server errors because of Polylang. There’s a workaround so both plugins can coexist.

Now my top 5 most popular posts are

They show multiple times, since they are different posts because of languages, even though they are kinda the same.

Ideally the post in other languages than the one selected should not be shown.

Not really sure, as I don’t know how Polylang works. If it’s as WPML, WPP should be able to unify the views count just fine – except for those posts that don’t have a translation in the default language.

Polylang works without making a multi site.
For every post, you can add one (or more) as translation and apply a language for that. When a visitor selects a language, it shows only posts in that language.

Not the most popular posts is one in danish, which should not be shown on the english site.

And the 2nd-5th is only two different posts but in two different languages..

If I understand correctly, what you want is to have the plugin list the most popular posts in each language separately (most popular english posts vs most popular in danish). Is that correct?

No simply just leave out every post not in the chosen language.

As the link is for english, it should display the (5) most popular posts in english and nothing else..

Not it lists every post (since they have individual view counts). They look the same, cause polylang still choses the english title, even though the count for one of them is the danish one.

That’s not possible for the moment, as of now WPP just calls WPML / Polylang methods to get the right title for the current language. If there’s no translation available, WPP will return the post title as is – as you already know.

The problem I have with excluding posts is that evidently the listing will get shorter which may not be the expected behavior. WPP would have to either offer a configurable option to let the user decide what happens when there are no translations available (“skip the post”, “list it anyways”, etc) or have WPP rerun to replenish the listing with new posts (which might cause a performance penalty under some circumstances).

By the way, both danish and english versions do share the views count – WPP will update the statistic of the original language since, after all, the translation belongs to the original post.

About the counts that doesn’t seem so..
My listing is:

A-dl – 5 views/day
B-dk – 3
B-en – 2
C-en – 2
C-dk – 2

B has different counts…

never the less, this was a suggestion for improvement later on if you like ??
I think the issue may resolve itself more or less when I get more articles, as long as I don’t get too many languages =)
