i am a complete newbie here, the blog, before I installed it was directed through my domain name – I don’t get it ??

maybe I should just give up and get someone to install for me – but then I won’t learn – boo hoo! poor me!

I have uploaded everything into my folders, according to my host, it needs to go into a folder call “htdocs” so that’s where I uploaded it, and named it wordpress – so into my addy bar I type:

https://www.mydomain.com/htdocs/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php

and I just get back to my own blog with the above quote!

Hmm. I understand what you mean now, thank you for clarifying. Installation really is usually pretty easy. What is your URL (your current domain?) What are you using to blog there currently?

The config change shouldn’t be an issue. I imagine it has something to do with the folder ‘htdocs.’ I’ve never heard of anything like that, who is your host?

I don’t know if this will even help but I’d try to just put it in the wordpress folder in your main directory (skipping the htdocs).

thanks for getting back to me – i am currently blogging on just the regular wordpress.com site, but I had my domain name (www.consumerbitch.co.uk) diverted to my wordpress site…

when I type in the above address it pings back like this:

I have tried, as you advised to install in the root file, but it is really weired! I think I am going to call my provider!

woohoo!!! I called my providers and they said that they had not enabled my .php script or something like that! apparently it will all be find in a couple of hours!!!
