Sorry, that file cannot be edited.Upgraded from 3.0.5 to 3.1

Greetings.I am on a wordpress + buddypress site platform.After upgrading from wordpress 3.0.5 to 3.1 I get the above error when I go to appearance editor on my site’s main theme.

After some digging I found someone saying to look up the permissions.The permissions were changed to 0644 into that directory (Simple WP Community Theme).

So I changed permissions back to 0755 but still the same error.Then i disabled the w3 total cache cleared my browsers cache + cookies and tried to edit the theme files.Nothing again.The only file it can open is the style.css which was the last one I had on appearance editor.Footer header 404 you name it nothing opens from that theme.Any ideas?
