“Sorry, this order is invalid and cannot be paid for.” Woocommerce error

    “Sorry, this order is invalid and cannot be paid for.” Woocommerce error appears after clicking ‘place order’. Clients can’t pay in my client’s store.

    What could be the issue and how to remove the error?

    Also some weird combination of numbers and letters appear on the url of the site, just before the error.

    The error message you’re seeing usually appears if the order status is not set to “Pending Payment” or if the order has already been paid for. Please check the status of the orders on your order details page.

    If the issue persists, it may be due to a plugin conflict. Try deactivating all plugins except WooCommerce and see if the error still exists. If it doesn’t, reactivate your plugins one by one to identify the conflicting plugins.

    Regarding the URL, seeing a combination of numbers and letters is normal. This is the unique order key that WooCommerce generates for each order. It helps in identifying and processing the order.

    • System Status Report: navigate to WooCommerce → Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support.
    • Fatal Error log: Share a copy of any fatal error log found under WooCommerce → Status → Logs.

    Hi, Shameem!

    Thank you for your response.

    Orders come through with ‘pending payment’ status. Client still sees this error.

    I also tried deactivating all the plugins except Woocommerce and Esto Pay, this error still accured.

    If you try to use another payment method, like Direct Bank Transfer (BACS) – WooCommerce, do you see the same error?
