Sorry, this type of file is not permitted error

  • I tried to upload a .img file and insert it into a link so people can easily download the file by clicking on it. But when i uploaded the file into the add media section, it gave me the error “sorry this type of file is not permitted.” I run an android based site so .img files are very common. Is there a way i can bypass this? Or simply allow it? Or maybe a plugin?

    I actually haven’t configured my FTP yet, i tried to a little while ago and it had an error, so i kind of just gave up. Right now, i’m just trying to insert a file into text in my article posts so when people click on the hyperlink they can just download the file without being redirected to another site. That’s all i want to do, insert a downloadable file into text.
