I exported the entire product list and complete fields (only 4 products in the Woo presently) saved as CSV UTF-8.

Made very minor modifications and tried to import (attempt to replace back on Woo).

“Sorry, you are not allowed to upload this file type.” shows up each time.

I tired another export this time without any modifications when trying to import it back. Same message:

“Sorry, you are not allowed to upload this file type.”

    Hi @nalticus,

Do you have any custom code or plugin that is interacting with the WooCommerce import/export process?

The CSV import tool in Products > Import should work out of the box, and that error message suggests that your server is rejecting the format of your file.

If possible, please avoid Microsoft Excel due to formatting and character encoding issues when creating your CSV file. Here’s a list of the recommended CSV editors you can use:

I’ve also found this article about WooCommerce import errors and how to fix them which might be helpful for your case.

    Best regards.

    Hello @nalticus,

This might be because WordPress does not allow you to upload the .csv files. You can simply fix this by installing this plugin and allow csv to be uploaded.

    Hope this helps!

    Hey @nalticus

I’d recommend installing and activating a free plugin called Disable Real MIME Check.

Once you’ve uploaded your file disable and delete this plugin again.

Looks like I might first try and download Apache open office.

I tried Google sheets, but my PC keeps labeling the saved file as a Microsoft Excel CSV

Thank you very much for these suggestions.

    Hello,

That sounds like a plan, let us know if this worked in your case.

    Cheers.

We haven’t heard back from you in a while (I think you have been able to find a solution), so I’m going to mark this as resolved – we’ll be here if and/or when you are ready to continue.

    Thanks.
