Sortable, searchable, filterable recommendations?

Hello WordPress Forums,

I am running and maintaining a book blog (link included) and I am trying to do something but I am not sure how.

I want to have a list of books that I recommend. The recommendations would be sortable, searchable, filterable, and so on.

So, using Harry Potter as an example, this is what I am trying to do.

On my recommendation page, Harry Potter would be tagged as fantasy and young adult. If someone searched for “fantasy” it would pop up Harry Potter. If they searched for “fantasy” but excluded “young adult” then Harry Potter wouldn’t show up.

I am open to having this be done with a search box or a series of checkboxes. Not picky there, but want it to be clean and easy to use.

Any tips on how to achieve this? Addons to use, or built-in options in WordPress?
