Sorting for Plugin/Theme search results

I’m a newbie so maybe I’m missing something, but the theme and plugin pages seem poorly implemented, and ironically could likely be easily fixed with a WordPress plugin. ??

Why is there no way to sort search results by rating? Or number of installs? Or date updated?

Also, why can’t we search within the featured or popular tabs?

When a lot of results are returned for a search who wants to trawl through 10 pages of 3yr old, 1 star junk with 10 installs when the highest rated and most installed themes/plugins are the obvious place to start?
