    Hello community,
I tried to connect my Soundcloud account, which is showing correctly as a preview (profile picture), though sadly I get this message when I save the settings:

This artist’s label might be blocking access to the artist’s tracks from outside Soundcloud.com and only allow embedding from Soundcloud.com.

If you are the artist, please do get in touch on the forum to help me fix this issue

Now I am looking here for solutions and hope that someone could help me?
    Thank you

Hi and thank you very much for posting your question and I really hope you can help me solve this.

At the request of some artists and labels Soundcloud blocks certain tracks to be used from third parties (like this plugin), it’s very rare but it happena.

Problem is Soundcloud just doesn’t give you any clue to know it’s actually what’s happening, so I’m just assuming that if Soundcloud returns nothing when requesting a track then it must be it. Lost of developers are complaining about this to Soundcloud btw.

I was suspicious that this blanket solution would affect a small percentage of people that didn’t ask to have their tracks blocks, so if you give me some basics details about your profile that would be great.

Could you tell me your Soundcloud Username? So I can try to look into it.
Is this a new account? Maybe it’s set to private?

    Cheers

    Hi!
Thanks for your quick answer, I’ll try to help as best as I can:

Our account is fairly new and is mostly used to “save” songs from people who are staying in our guesthouse, called “goamazinghostel” on Soundcloud. If the guests play a song we all like, we’ll save it to our Soundcloud in different Playlists. Due to that, we only have Playlists, but no Tracks. (that might already be some problem?) The tracks we are saving fall mostly under another artist’s copyright, too, so that we couldn’t ask for access.

We wanted to have the Soundcloud Plugin on our website to make people more aware of our Playlists and that people can find the songs they liked to listen to when they stayed with us. Thus all Playlists are set to public.

The Plugin was set up with our user ID: user-ID.

If I can help with additional info I’ll try to reply asap.
    Thanks!

    Hi,

Thank you very much for your reply, it makes total sense! I didn’t think of this scenario. Normally you should have no trouble using the plugin, the option panel is just to set some default settings, you can still set those up even if the preview doesn’t work in the option panel.

You should be able to embed playlists and favourites into posts or pages: click the add media button when editing a post or page. A window popup should open, in that window there’s a Soundcloud is Gold tab, the rest should be pretty straight forward.

Same with the widget, if your wordpress theme is using widgets you can show your latest playlists and favourites on your site.

I need to think about this situation as many people use soundcloud for other people’s music and not their own.

Let me know if it works for you.

Also, you should delete your wordpress user id from your message, hackers could try to use this against you. I’m talking about this line “The Plugin was set up with our user ID: user-xxxxxxxxx.”

    Hi!
You are right, it worked like a charm. I was able to select Playlists through the Add Media button and display Soundcloud on the website. I didn’t check that option before as I was a bit confused if it was working/connected.
    Thank you very much!
The ID is the user ID from SoundCloud, but I still changed the post. ??
    Cheers

No worries, I’m glad I could help. Thank you for raising this, I’m going to have to find a nice way to handle it.

If you’re satisfied with the plugin would mind leaving a review?

    Thanks!
