Space between articles on front page

and is it possible to give the whole header a different color?

The space between the posts on the blog can be removed with the following CSS:

.excerpt {
  margin-bottom: 0;
}

As for changing the header color, the following should work:

#site-header {
  background: #43b3c4;
}

The css for header color also, but the menu still had a white bg. I tried around and what worked for me is to add:

#menu-primary-items {
background: #fafafa;
}

Okay it looks like the previous CSS added for making the background white is interfering. Specifically this code here: https://pics.competethemes.com/image/0F3p3m3y0u3g

If you locate that code in your CSS, and remove the “#site-header” and “.menu-primary ul” selectors, everything should work as planned.
