  • Hello caroline,
Can you mention which theme you are using?
It’s difficult to say where the space is coming from just looking at the html and css.

    Hi!

It’s a child theme of Twenty Fifteen!

    Still no luck!

I noticed that the footer is supposed to be inside the body-tag, but it appears not to be so.

There is no other closing body tag in these specific files. The space beneath the footer are always 100% extra depending on the size of your screen.
Can’t find the errors here so appreciate any help!

Can you post the link here of the child theme of Twenty Fifteen you are using as there are multiple child themes available for a single theme.

The child theme is my own, I built it myself.

Do you recommend change theme to make it work properly again?

    Hello Caroline,
Go through following 3 troubleshooting steps 1 by 1.

Firstly, please change theme using following Steps:
1.Click on Appearance ? Themes>> Activate other theme than Twenty Fifteen.
2.Again,Click on Appearance ? Themes>> Hover the Mouse over Active theme>> Click the “Theme Details” button.
3.Click Next Arrow button on the top left side of theme until you find Twenty Fifteen. Click Delete button
4.Go to Appearance ? Themes>> Add New >>Upload Twenty Fifteen theme. Activate the theme.
Now, check various options of theme again to see if your issue is resolved by doing so.

If the problem still continues, here is another troubleshooting step:
To rule out a plugin conflict, you could try temporarily deactivating all your plugins. Does the problem persist? If the problem is gone, reactivate your plugins one-by-one, look at the site in between each reactivation, to find the conflict plugin.

And the final trouble shooting steps would be deactivating the child theme you make, and check if there is still space under footer. If there is not any problem try to find where space is coming from.If you can’t figure it out you can put the code of custom post type for products here.

    Thank you!!

    Thanks for your help!

When I started following your steps, my patience started to lack!
I decided to skip my childtheme in TwentyFifteen and do a core update and create a new childtheme in Twenty Sixteen instead.

However, I noticed the error while building a new childtheme in TW16. It was my mega-menu with specific height that messed it up from the beginning. I didn’t have to update after all, but it doesn’t matter anymore. I’m happy now =D
    Thanks!
