spam

I recently changed from Contact form 7 to forminator. Since then I have received multiple spam emails through my site. What can I do to filter those out?
Thanks very much

Hi @centexcrane,
I hope you are having a good day and thank you for reaching out to us.
Please try adding a hCaptcha form to prevent the form from spam submission. Please find more details here: https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/forminator/#hcaptcha-field
If you are using Akismet on your website, please enable the option from the Behaviour tab of the form and select to either fail any submissions that Akismet detects as spam. Please find more details here: https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/forminator/#security
I hope that helps.
Kind Regards,
Nebu JohnI am using WP Armour and the captcha from your own forms. I don’t need or want to pay for Akismet, especially with it’s reviews. I never had a problem with spam emails coming in from my website until I switched from Contact Form 7 to Forminator.
Hello @centexcrane !
Please confirm – for Captcha field you’re using hCaptcha already, is that correct? I’m asking this because we’ve seen hCaptcha being better nowadays at stopping spam than reCaptcha.
Kind regards,
PawelYes, I’m using hCaptcha. I have attached just one of the many spam messages I am receiving through my website. If the spam issue can not be corrected I will have to find another plugin for contact form. If I have to read this crap then maybe you should too!!
You have a new website form submission:

Yui. Reason: dont spam
I am still waiting on a fix for all of the spam coming in through my website. I am using hCaptcha as you suggested. I have WP armour installed, and, once again, I never had a problem with spam using Contact Form 7.
Hi @centexcrane,
I understand your concern and am sorry to hear about the issue.
I tried to replicate the issue on a form with hCaptcha enabled but couldn’t replicate the issue.
Can you please share an export of the form so that we can try to help you with a workaround?

Kind Regards,
Nebu JohnHello, again. I do not have the pro version of forminator and will not purchase it. I have installed and activated ALL of your other plugins for security and so on. If you aren’t able to correct a simple issue as spam then why would I pay for the pro version? Are you saying that spam can’t be fixed with your free version?
Please get back to me, whilst I search for another pluginHI @centexcrane
We never suggested buying a pro version of Forminator, I just read this entire ticket again to make sure. I sincerely apologize if we gave that impression at any point of this conversation.
The “export” option (which would let us check form settings), Akismet integration an captcha (both reCaptcha and hCaptcha) are all included in free version of Forminator.
But getting back to the spam issue which is the main topic here:
It isn’t that simple as it may seem and even if you had “no spam” with Contact Form 7, it doesn’t mean it wouldn’t start getting it sooner or later. There’s no 100% protection, ever. Aside from getting completely offline.
However, there are certain things that can be done and those are, as described earlier:
– setting up captcha (reCaptcha or hCaptcha) – if it works correctly (but we don’t know URL of your page with the form to confirm that) it alone can significantly limit amount of spam getting through
– Akismet integration – as all the form submissions would go through Akismet spam check and be filtered by it– additionally, in form’s “Behavior” settings there’s option to enable “Honeypot”; it’s worth enabling and can reduce spam even further as it “fools” some of the bots
These are essentials spam prevention ways that but to be able to tell more specifically about your form and Forminator we’d need to check the form and check the live page on which the form in question is.
That being sald, would you please provide us with form export file (as asked by my colleague in previous post here) and share a link to the page with form in question?
We’ll be more than happy to take a very close look at it to see what else/more could be done (regardless if it’s on our end/in the plugin code or on your site) to limit that spam further.
Kind regards,
AdamHello @centexcrane ,
We haven’t heard from you for some time now, so it looks like you don’t need our assistance anymore.
Feel free to re-open this ticket if needed.
Kind regards
