• I have been getting persistent spam comments even with the comments turned off for specific posts.

When I disabled the Disqus plugin, these spammy things stopped happening. The plugin has not been updated since WP 4.0 came out and thats when the spam started so I’m blaming this plugin for my sites malware issues.

I recommend disabling this plugin if you have WP 4.0 until its been made compatible and secure. Even though it looks like just spam, its been very persistent and seems to open up my multisite to a world of hurt. Wordfence, iTheme Security have both been unable to stop this spam plus once the plugin is active on one sub site, it seems to allow the spammer to leave comments on other sub sites that don’t even have the plugin activated. It comes as no surprise that all traces of the attacker lead back to Russian and Chinese addresses.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?
