I have recently installed Antispambee on my blog. Several known friends, who I know and trust have told me that when they leave a non-spammy comment on any of my blog posts, they all get the message “Spam Deleted” when the comment is posted and the comment disappears. This is not recorded anywhere under “comments” in my WordPress dashboard. My mentor, who suggested that I install Antispambee, has checked my settings, especially the tick in the box marked “Mark as spam, do not delete” and he can see nothing wrong. Can you help? I am using the Stallion Theme and Firefox. Thank you.

    Hi @philramage

can you please share your settings? Especially what you have set up for “Delete comments by reason”:
    https://antispambee.pluginkollektiv.org/documentation/#delete-comments-by-spam-reasons

This could cause this behavior if other problems are also there (mostly having an incompatible plugin or theme installed that will conflict with our honeypot injection system).

And can you also share your active plugins and by any chance the website you are having the problem with?

With this information, I should find the culprit easily …

    All the best

    Hello Torsten, and thank you.

Within the settings I have ticked: “Trust approved commentators”, “Mark as spam, do not delete”, “BBCode links are spam”, “Use regular expressions”, “Look in the local spam database”, “Delete comments by spam reasons”, and “Delete Antispam Bee data when uninstalling”. Within ‘Delete comments by spam reasons” I have highlighted “Honeypot”, “Empty data”, “Local DB spam”, BBCode”, “Comment Language”, “Regular Expression”, “Identical post title and blog title”.

Active plugins are : “Antispambee”, BackupBuddy”, “Classic Editor”, Classic Widgets”, CommentLuv”, Epic Squeeze LITE” Google Analytics Dashboard for WP”, “Heartbeat Control by Rocket”, “Hostgator Walkme Plugin”, “Jetpack”, Koko Analytics”, LeadConnector”, “Pretty Links”, “Simple Social Buttons”, “Widgit Logic”, “Wordfence Security”, “WP Graphic Password”, “WP Super Cache”, “WPCode Lite”, and “YouTuube Embed Pro WPDevArt”.

    My problem website is https://philsaffiliateclub.com.

    Cheers

    Phil

    Hi @philramage

the reason why commenter are seeing “Spam deleted” is, because you have enabled “Delete comments by spam reasons” for “Honeypot”, but there is something preventing that our honeypot is injected (as it is not seen on your site).

From the plugins listed, it could be “Jetpack Comments”, but this is not used on your page.

So the next possible candidate would be “CommentLuv”, but I couldn’t reproduce it with Antispam Bee and CommentLuv active in my test install.

So I’m afraid this has something to do with your theme. I tried to find it online, but it is not available for download anymore, and it looks like the development stopped for more than 5 years now.

You can try to enable a default theme temporarily and check if the problem persists.

    Good luck!

    All the best
    Torsten
