  • I doubt very much that these spam emails will have anything to do wit PMPro
Sounds like you also have a contact form on your site which is where the spammers will be sending your email from..

Suggest you put a CAPTCHA option on this also.
this will at least eliminate spam bots, but nothing will stop humans from spamming you

but that’s the only plug in that’s installed on that version of wordpress.

    i don’t have a contact form, this is what’s so weird/confusing/annoying

Sounds like maybe spam from another source that is trying to look like contact form submissions. Is that a common phrasing in any of the common WP contact form plugins?

    … Googling …

Yes. Looks like Contact Form 7 uses that language: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/this-mail-is-sent-via-contact-form-message?replies=6

So my guess is it’s typical spam from outside your site/server, but it knows you have a WordPress site (or is just guessing since 1/4 of all domains are running WP) and uses that common language to pass spam filters.

this is so weird it doesn’t have that on there.

i do have a page which is just a html page that has the email address on there so maybe they’re getting the email from that?

    (@johnzoro)

Actually, I’m wrong. I just double checked the page and the email address that’s on that page is a different email address.

    can you supply a url??

    Thread Starter johnzoro

    (@johnzoro)

i can do but take into consideration the wordpress is behind my index.html page so that will always overwrite the index.php

    http:/www.thecakefixer.com is the url

    ok.
Well if you dont have any contact form etc on your website and the spam isnt going to the bakertips.com email address, then like many people, your email address has been picked up somewhere and used to spam you.
A fact of life on the internet these days.

Anyway sorry we cant help you with this problem as it cant be a PMPRo problem.

    good luck

    (@johnzoro)

well that’s not very helpful lol

it wasn’t a pmp pro issue.

    it was my mistake

i had wordpress on a test domain of mine that i was using to redesign the website and the contact form 7 on that test site didn’t have a captcha.

as soon as i added the captcha the spam stopped ??
