Hello, I run my own blog website & have Akismet installed along with comment blackout for terms “jordans”, “gucci”,”vuitton” as 90% of spam I get is for these 3 things.

While Akismet does help, it puts all the spam in spam folder. On daily basis, I get ~750 spam comments in there DAILY — not sure how much disk space they take up. If I try to delete more than 250 at a time, I get the error “The requested URL’s length exceeds the capacity limit for this server.”

    Issues I face:

It is very time-consuming to delete 250 spam comments at a time. It is also impossible to go comment-by-comment searching for legit comments. I expected that if I added the blackout for those 3 terms, those comments would not even be accepted by WordPress, but I was wrong.

What options are available out there to either replace Akismet or use in conjunction with Akismet?

    Thanks!!

    Hi bladefd

There’s now a setting for Akismet under ‘Strictness’ labelled ‘Silently discard the worst and most pervasive spam so I never see it.’

Try selecting that radio button and see how you go for a couple of days. I’m guessing it’ll save you a few headaches!
