• Hello,

I posted in the support forum and now am getting spam from members seeing I need help and using my personal email linked to my website to try and sell me WordPress support.

I trusted my site would be safe posted in the forum, clearly not. Can someone get in touch and remove my post please as I wish to receive no more spam from members selling me support.

    Thanks

I’m sorry that is happening to you. Companies attempting to harvest business from you on the Internet I mean. I maintain a private list of companies who do that here. When they are found then they are banned for life from these forums.

Being contacted that way is sadly a reality of you posting your URL on the Internet.

No one has any access to your email address and you are not being spammed from anyone on www.ads-software.com here.

That’s a different matter. These forums are on the Internet and you posted your URL.

These are volunteer support forums and that means there is no way to provide the volunteers here (such as yourself) URLs privately. Nor should there ever be; if someone needs that level of support then they should consider hiring someone via https://jobs.wordpress.net/ or https://jetpack.pro/

Posts and topics are not edited unless there is an extreme case. Search engine hits are never extreme and no post will be edited simply because you shared your URL in your topics or posts here.

    See https://www.ads-software.com/support/guidelines/ for more information.

The reason really is this: years ago that idea was entertained by the volunteers here. It became a full time job. These forums are duplicated in several places on the Internet by many unknown third parties.

In short, redacting your URL once it’s been there is a waste of time and doesn’t work. That’s not a good use of any volunteer’s time to do that.

The only thing I can suggest is that if you need support in the future you do not post your URL. That will make it almost impossible to support you here in these volunteer support forums but that is your choice.

On a second note, @umanoodle do you happen to have details of the person spamming you? If they have an account on www.ads-software.com we can block it as Jan said, but we can’t do much to police matters outside of the forums.
