SPAM notification emails but nothing to delete in dashboard

  • I am getting hundreds of emails every day telling me i have a post to moderate. I go to my dashboard and it says I have one pending but if I click it nothing shows up. I keep getting the emails and its annoying the heck out of me. Its the same email over and over. Is anyone else having this issue??

    I’m using 2.7 version.

    This is copyied and pasted from my noficiation email. I just did the top part because I wasn’t sure if I could post the whole thing without giving out info to my admin panel or not:

    i’m gonna bump this because I haven’t heard anything.

    I had another 100 emails this morning. Same result. =-(

    is this help forum for free versions also ? Or just people who have them hosted on their own sites?

    I don’t understand why I can’t get any help on this issue. I’m getting over 100 emails everyday and can’t find any way to fix this.

    Hi you haven’t given your url so I’m guessing your blog is on wordpress.com, they have their own forum, you’re right, this forum is for self hosted wordpress blogs, I’m assuming you have Akismet activated on your blog for spam.

    Funny that this thread has been bumped. I had this same issue once upon a time but it stopped for months. I got one of these emails today for the first time in a longggggg time.

    Does anyone know what and why this happens?

    I too have this issue. 50+ emails a day with no actual data, and no record of the phantom comments in the Dashboard either. Going to try deactivating Akismet to see if that stops it.

    I found another thread about Trackback spam… which sounded like what’s happening to me, but apparently it isn’t. I installed both of the suggested plugins and the emails keep coming.

    I have since disabled Akismet to see if this is somehow responsible. So far no more emails. I will post a follow-up if they start again.

    Nope. Emails keep coming. Akismet wasn’t the problem. What’s worse is that the more posts I have the more blank emails I get. Starting to wonder if need to delete my blog and start over.

    Help would be appreciated.
