Spam posts

i believe your getting comments spam. U can check if the default spam filter plugin akismet is active or install verification code for comments using this plugin

This spam is appearing in the area “posts”. When I go to post a new blog post, I have to delete 20-30 “pending posts” that are not mine…needless to say this is a real pain. This is not comment spam, more like posting spam!
akismet is running.
Please help.

I have also started to get tons of “pending” posts in my post area in Dashboard. They stretch back for many pages throughout my 100’s of posts. I also have Akismet running. Clearing them out one by one will take forever and not knowing why they are there is disturbing. Looking forward to an answer here.

Hi MikeLev, I am STILL having this problem and hope to have some guidance as to how to remedy it in this forum soon. I am still deleting bogus “pending” posts on a daily basis to try to keep it in check! It is a continuing pain.

i am getting hundreds of this spam post a day.. my temporary solution is bulk delete plugin.

has anyone found a permanent solution?

Still waiting for someone to answer with a solution. I am still going through the posts manually and you know how irritating that is!

Hello … was having a similar problem for about a month. Lots of spam posts showing up, but at least they were just in our queue as Pending, so nothing got posted. It ended up that subscribers somehow had access to all our posts (including editing, adding, deleting), rather than just being able to read posts. We didn’t have our User Capabilities plugin activated, so I activated it and then gave the subscribers the capability to only read posts and nothing else. We use Capability Manger with WP version 3.2.1 and it seems to work fine. There’s also User Role Editor.

The exact same thing is happening on our site. Askimet is handling spam comments, but I am getting tons of spam signups to our site and subsequent spam pending posts.

I think the solution is to have a spam-proof sign in for new guests at the site.
