I am having problems with someone who is specifically targetting WordPress.
They space their comments out so they don’t trigger the timed filters. However, they have many links in the comments, which should trigger WordPress moderation.
But it’s not. So, how does one turn this on?

    Options > Discussion
Then set number of links to something like three. Alternatively (or also) get hold of Tarpit or Kittens Spam Words plugins.
WP is normally exceptionally good at stopping these #$%$?£’s

It had 5063 links. I think that the number of 5 would trigger it.
No, what I found is that the wp-comments-post.php file I had was out of synch from my installation, when compared with the code in 1.2 that you can download now. I’m guessing it was an old 1.2a file that didn’t get copied over when I upgraded the site to 1.2 after it released. The old file did not have the check_comments function call, or the filter application function.
And it tested comment_moderation using text rather than numbers.
Anyway, I edited it and tested with the comment, and it is stopping it now.

i get those too, something about casinos ?? i’m trying the plugins, i saw one on spam assassin, but it’s too troublesome to implement for me
