  • @wowtech – installing plugin without permission is impossible for us, since our plugins are reviewed by www.ads-software.com staff.

The only way Modula could have been installed is if it came with one of our themes (and it was set to default: install; user has to un-check the box).

Basically, I’m trying to say that the only way to install Modula is with actual user intent (user has to click on something for this to happen).

@wowtech – this support thread right now totally represents our failure to communicate better with Enable Media Replace’s user base. We’ve never realised the consequences of our actions when we were implementing this type of feature. In our eyes, it was harmless.

WordPress rules allow us to tastefully (that’s of course, subjective) display ads in the admin dashboard. Since we’re mostly developers, we’re used to “follow the rules and nothing bad will happen”. That’s where I believe we’ve failed the second time: we didn’t realise the impact this could have on users nor were we prepared to handle it properly.

We, the team behind @machothemes, manage quite a large code base of products. We pride ourselves in having not only great code but also a very friendly team of people supporting these products. I, as part of the team, have failed at properly responding to this support thread in my first couple of replies.

As such, I want to extend an honest apology towards you and to anyone else who’ll be reading this thread.

We’ll be fixing this via a future update as well as a hotfix release today (the hotfix will hide the notice for anyone who’s doesn’t have plugin install capabilities OR isn’t actually in EMR’s settings page).

We’ve handled this poorly and I’m really sorry about that.

Thank you for taking the time to read this,
    Cristian.

Thanks for your understanding and willingness to help. Sorry for the “name calling”. Thanks again for your understanding and for enable media replace.

Update for EMR that addresses this issue has been released.

    Take care!
