I have an ACF field I made named author. Some of the author names in the text are Spanish. They display perfectly everywhere except in the filters. The author name “Andrés Vázquez de Prada” shows in the filters as “Andr?s V?zquez de Prada”, which of course is NOT a match to the real name in the system, so the filter shows the “Andr?s V?zquez de Prada” with a (0) next to it. How can I get the filters to work with the Spanish characters?

    Hello David,

Thank you for your interest in our filters!

Do you use the ACF text fields? Unfortunately, due to internal limitations, the filters only support the (pure) Latin text or numbers as filterable meta data. No spaces or accented characters are allowed in the meta data names. Please read this forum post to see if the solution offered by it is suitable for your case.

Using this opportunity, I would also like to encourage you to look into basing your filters on the built-in mechanism of WooCommerce attributes, it is a much faster and efficient method from the perspective of internal filtering queries!
