spanish will not work

    Hi,
    I have wp3.6; suffusion theme 4.4.7 and car demon 1.2.4
    WP language has been defined as es_ES; so has the theme; I have added es_ES.po and es_ES.mo to car demon, translated some labels in order to try it out but it will not work in spanish.
    Just to see if the system is working correctly I switched to it_IT (italian) and car demon did switch to italian…
    What am I doing wrong?
    Please help me, and when succesfull I will pass on to you the complete spanish translation.
