Special adjustments – High traffic, heavy sites

We run a high traffic heavy website with hold over 12000 posts and over half a million attachments, and traffic surging over a short course of time.
We managed to keep the server perfectly up during idle times and high traffic, the issue arises when trying to post a new blog, the site often goes down and gives out a high memory leak and infinite database connections(we have perfectly capable powerful servers – no doubt, can support 5 times the average capacity).

Can this be attributed to this plugin by any chance, cause only this plugin overrules our max memory limit to 256M at runtime; the memory leak scales to server max memory and crashes the entire server down. Should there be any adjustments made from our side to all-in-one-SEO to sustain this high traffic.
