I am trying to make a BOGO and it isn’t working the way I’d like.

I have a shirt store and I’d like it so that if someone orders a Red Cotton shirt, they are able to get any of the Cotton + Polyester Blend shirts for free. But these blend shirts have different variations. And it looks like I can only select one of the variations to be free. So as of right now, if they get the Red Cotton shirt, they can only get the Blue blend shirt free or the Red blend shirt free.

But I want them to be able to pick the color of the free shirt. I can’t find any documentation on how to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi @moderncaliber ,

    Greetings from WebToffee Support!

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding the issue you’ve experienced.

We’d like to inform you that for the BOGO discount type, you can select the parent product of a variable product in the ‘Giveaway Products’ section. By selecting the parent product (in this case, the Cotton + Polyester Blend shirts), users will have the option to choose their preferred variation once the coupon is applied. This means that when a user adds the Red Cotton shirt to their cart, they will be able to select any color variation of the Cotton + Polyester Blend shirt as the free item.

However, for other discount types that aren’t BOGO, the giveaway products section may not allow you to select the parent product, limiting the choice to specific variations instead.

If you are still unable to select the parent product and only the child variations are available, kindly provide us with the following information:

    1. A screen recording: Illustrating the issue where you’re unable to select the parent product. Please include the product edit page of the variable product as well.
    2. WooCommerce System Status report: You can access the System Status report in WooCommerce by navigating to WooCommerce -> Status -> Get system status report. This report provides details about your site environment and configuration.

Additionally, as an initial troubleshooting step, you may deactivate all plugins except the Smart Coupons for WooCommerce plugin and WooCommerce, then check if the issue persists. If the issue no longer occurs, reactivate each plugin one by one until the issue reappears, helping identify the conflicting plugin.

This will help us better understand the issue and provide more accurate assistance.
