Special characters in posts deleting text

Hello,

I am finding that certain special characters in my text seem to cause problems sometimes (specifically if I switch to HTML view and back to normal view) – the whole text from the point of the special character onwards is deleted.

This is obviously incredible frustrating because unless you have a backup elsewhere of your post then you will lose everything that you just typed. Argh!

I am using 3.2.1 and this is happening, and I understand this has been a problem for a while:

Even if this problem – for whatever reason – cannot be simply addressed, I suggest that instead of deleting all the text that WordPress simply strip out the offending grammar. This would at least be an improvement, if not a solution.

I don’t know if this is possible but would be a huge help to me and probably others.
