    Hi,

Some words in the custom emails are not written with special letter (in french).
    For example : “à” becomes “?” , “é” becomes “??”.

Is it possible to change this ?

    Hi @laurentmazoyer,
    Thanks for your message.

Does this happen elsewhere on your site too? Or is it just when using BNFW?

    Hi,

On the website everything display fine, the problem occurs only when using BNFW in emails notifications. We use BuddyPress on this website to make it as an intranet.

    Hi @laurentmazoyer,
    Ok. Thanks.

So no other emails that are sent out from your site display formatting issues with characters, or other plugins in the WP Admin – is that right?

    Thread Starter laurentmazoyer

    (@laurentmazoyer)

Yes absolutely. Before we were using the BBPress emails notifications and we had no issues with characters but we need more personalisation and automatic emails when a new user is registered.

    Hi @laurentmazoyer,
    Ok, thanks.

Can you share the contents of a notification that’s causing an issue so that I can test?
Any information you can provide to help me with retrying to replicate is appreciated.

You can test with all specific characters, specially with accents like é,à,è,?,?….etc

    Hi @laurentmazoyer,

    Can you confirm:

What language WordPress is being used in?
    What Notification you’re using?

Can you also post the contents of a notification that you’re using in BNFW so that I can test it as you are?

    Thread Starter laurentmazoyer

    (@laurentmazoyer)

    Hi,

The language is French. We use notifications for : new user registerded to WordPress, here the notifications are fine even with special chars.

The problem occurs in notifications sent from forums (user can write texts in several forums on the website, and their messages are sent to other users in the same forum) and here the problem is present. The forums are created with bbPress plugin.

So the content of theese notifications depends on the message of the user, but for an example : “Bonjour à vous, un professionnel est recherché dans le réseau”
will become : “Bonjour ? vous, un professionnel est recherch?? dans le r??seau”

    Hi @laurentmazoyer,

    Hmm, can you clarify something:

    • What notifications are you using in BNFW that are sent out when something happens on the forums?

If I’ve understood correctly, you’re only seeing issues with characters in emails that are sent for something that happened on the forums – characters in the New User Registration notifications appear correctly – is that right?

    Thread Starter laurentmazoyer

    (@laurentmazoyer)

    Hi,

You’ve understood correctly yes. And we don’t created special BNFW notifications for forums/groups from bbPress notifications. So WP uses the general template of BNFW and the default content of bbPress notifications but with char issues.

We only have created one notifications from BNFW for new user registrations.

    Hi @laurentmazoyer,
Hmm, i’m not sure this is correct.

BNFW doesn’t have a general template – you can only override an existing, default WP email, or create a new one. If you’re only using BNFW for New User Registration notifications, the settings for BNFW will only apply to this email. BNFW shouldn’t be affecting the output of any email that you haven’t set up in Notifications in the WP Admin.

Does the issue still occur when BNFW is deactivated? This should tell you if BNFW is changing the emails that are sent out from other plugins for some reason.

    Thread Starter laurentmazoyer

    (@laurentmazoyer)

Ok i understand now. So the problem seems to comes from another plugin: BuddyPress Group Email Subscription.. Thanks for your help.
Maybe your plugin can override these notifications ?

    Hi @laurentmazoyer,
It might be able to. There is’t full BuddyPress support built into BNFW but you might be able to create some of the notifications and test it.
