I’m having a problem with YASR and Special Recent Posts Pro.

    My setup:

    1. I have YASR shortcodes at the top of posts to show the author rating (auto-insert isn’t enabled)
    2. Show overall rating in archive page is Yes
    3. All visitor votes are disabled

If I use Special Recent Posts to display posts, the stars show up, but they’re all grey. I have enabled shortcode rendering in the SRP plugin.

I’m not sure where the compatibility issue lies – with SRP or YASR. The YASR code shows up, but the value for ‘ariavaluenow’ is ‘0’ when it should be the value for the rating. I have the YASR shortcode for displaying the highest rated products in a sidebar and that works fine. I don’t see any javascript errors so I’m kinda stumped. I’m hoping you might have some insight on this.

I don’t have a link to the site, as it’s hidden and you need admin access to view it.

I *do* have a screenshot of what I’m referring to:

Hi kcrusher, thank you for using YASR!

Just to be sure: you’re using the [yasr_overall_rating] shortcode, right?
Did you put the rating in the edit page? (https://youtu.be/M47xsJMQJ1E?t=48s)

Yes, I’m definitely using that shortcode ([yasr_overall_rating size=”medium”]) and putting it in the text editor.

The stars show up on the page, but they aren’t filled. Again, I’m using the SRP plugin to create the section of posts I want to show. Another section, in the sidebar with a text widget uses the [yasr_top_ten_highest_rated] – and that works just fine.

I’m not sure where the problem lies – with YASR or SRP.

Thoughts? More than happy to give login info or do whatever it takes to get this fixed.

    Thanks!

I just did another test using Beaver Builder and it has the same issue – the stars show up, but they’re not filled.

Do you think there might be some issue with how the YASR shortcode works when rendering ‘indirectly’ (through a plugin)? The site also has a YASR shortcode in a text widget in the sidebar and that works fine.

Actually, I just tested it another way – by going to Settings>Reading and setting the Blog to a Blog page. If I view the Blog page, it’s even worse – if the YASR shortcode is in the excerpt, it just shows the shortcode code. If it’s at the top of a post, it doesn’t show at all.

    Thoughts?

Yasr shortcode need the loop to get post id and work. I guess that plugin doesn’t use the loop: no problem you can pass the postid on yasr_overall_rating, eg:

    [yasr_overall_rating size=”small” postid=”YOURPOSTID”]

You can find your post id when edit a post or page.

Let me know if it works

That worked great, thanks! This is probably a good one to put in a support article on your site.

    Cheers!
