We are encountering a weird issue wherein our wordpress website takes too long to load which also results in high CPU utilization when activating Spectra. Btw, we are using Astra Pro and Spectra together.

This website resides in a GoDaddy dedicated server (nginx) with really high specs and it houses multiple sites that’s why the problematic website affects the other ones when the utilization is high. Mind you, we also had similar websites that uses the same plugins (Astra + Spectra, etc.) with similar wordpress and php configurations, but hosted on a different hosting provider such as bluehost and the only difference is that those other sites uses litespeed instead of php-fpm. We deactivated all plugins and activated it one by one that’s why we knew that it was spectra.

Below are some of the info:

    WordPress wp-core
    version: 6.4.3

    name: Astra Child (astra-child)
    version: 1.0.0

    name: Astra (astra)
    version: 4.6.9

    Twenty Twenty-Four: version: 1.0

    Astra Pro: version: 4.6.4
    Spectra: Version 2.12.6

    Server_architecture: Linux 4.18.0-513.18.1.el8_9.x86_64 x86_64
    httpd_software: Apache
    php_version: 8.2.17 64bit
    php_sapi: fpm-fcgi
    curl_version: 7.61.1 OpenSSL/1.1.1k

    extension: mysqli
    server_version: 8.0.36

I’ve also seen some errors like these from our logs:

    BLOCK: Getting Spectra Common CSS
    BLOCK: https://websitedemos.net/wp-json/astra-blocks/v2/spectra-common-styles

    Hi @highdice,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused to you.

I am not able to replicate the issue on my installation. I request you open a support ticket from here:https://wpspectra.com/support/ so that our support dev can help better.

I also see massive issues with Spectra. Cache helps, but when that clears the website often goes down trying to render the pages. Part of the problem is the huge number of duplicate database calls that spectra uses. These then bog my dedicated server down, and cause the 500 errors I’m seeing. I filed a ticket on this today, as I can easily find more then a few SQL calls that get called over 15 times on a single page. The calls are not optimized, and are queries that return entire records.

I can say for certain that this issue doesn’t happen on my server until I start using more and more of the Spectra features. Usually my biggest landing pages (which I have many) are the ones that cause this the worst. Each one is using the huge number of queries repeatedly.

I’m also using Astra + Spectra.

I have a dedicated, and I run many websites. Some with thousands of hits a day. This spectra website is one of my slowest, until it caches. Then its fast.
