Spectra makes URL default to blog

    Spectra 2.6.4

    For the past few days, no-one could reach the website as it kept defaulting to /blog. We cleared caches and I logged out but on Chrome, Safari, iPad and android mobile, the same default kept happening for four of us on separate devices. None of the pages or subpages were accessible by typing in the URL, always defaulting to /blog.

    On the WP dashboard, the Settings – Reading was correct, set to static Home.

    At dashboard Pages, today, the Home suddenly said not only Front Page, but suddenly read “Posts” as well, while the Blog had no “Posts” next to it. Later on, the Reading page had put a “posts” dropdown menu under static “Home”, meaning the Home front page now had blog posts.??

    At one point, having logged out of WP admin, I couldn’t get back as both Chrome and Safari had messages after one single try: “Too many redirects occurred trying to open website/blog. This might occur if you open a page that is redirected to open another page which then is redirected to open another page which is then redirected to the original page” which was unexpected because I only typed in the basic URL having cleared the cache. It still adds /blog.

    After several lengthy struggles with the help of Dreamhost agents, they corrected the Front Page back to Home without the “Posts” but they had to deactivate the Spectra plug-in. This is disappointing as it was working beautifully for a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, with the correction and deactivation of Spectra, the containers and other features have disappeared. 

    Dreamhost concluded there’s a problem with Spectra: “I just tested deactivating all plugins and the site loads fine on an incognito window. The issue looks to be stemming from this plugin ultimate-addons-for-gutenberg and you would need to look into that.” 

    I deleted Spectra and reinstalled. The containers and features returned but it’s defaulting to blog again.?

    I only started building my new website with Spectra last month so it looks like you still have bugs. Is this problem connected to the 2.6.4 Fatal errors I see posted in the forum??

    The site is deteriorating by the minute. A new issue: at the edit Blog page, clicking on “preview in a new tab” takes me to the Home page. Going to any page from the dashboard and attempting to return to the dashboard without making any changes produces a “Leave site?” message: “Changes that you made may not be saved.”

    In summary, the site can only be reached incognito rather than as admin if Spectra is deactivated. However, this means all the containers and features are lost. I’ve deactivated, deleted and re-added. I’ve also just installed the new upgrade 2.6.5 but still the same problem.
