    Hey @moody1337 and @robbo55,

    This is strange I’ll personally look into it and will get back to you.

    And if we find anything that is heavily being used or it is deteriorating performance then we’ll quickly fix it and release a quick update.

    Are you using web push on the fast page because it seems like you are on the slow one. If it is on you might like to turn that off as your server may not support it. I see an error come up in the web inspector for web push so it could be that.

    I just put a copy of your poor loading page on my server. It runs normally – 1-2 secs loading. Still get the web push error message though. This don’t forget is a straight html copy of the page. So no database calls per se but it will be calling all the external js, images etc.

    Sorry for my late reply.

    Both pages are on the exactly same server, so I’m not sure what you mean with web push, but I think its not important based on the fact that both pages are exactly the same.

    Also I’m wondering how you can have a copy without access to my wordpress-backend and the database. If you just grabbed the html – how should this be a proof for something?

    It proves that the html of the page is fine, all the external calls to AMP resources etc are also fine but what is not is fine is how the html is being generated by your server. That means your server is choking somewhere on producing that html.

    In your slow page – I see the error come up “Web push is not supported”. I don’t see that in your fast page. so what is different between your fast page and your slow one in how the html is being created. Are you sure all the settings are the same – really sure? Look in admin control panel to make sure the web push isn’t set to on. You could ask your hosting company about the web push error? It comes from here

    if (!this.environmentSupportsWebPush())
    return x().warn(“amp-web-push”, “Web push is not supported.”), Promise.reject(“Web push is not supported”);

    Alright, understood. First of all: both pages are on the same machine and there is no hoster, because I host it by myself (like “just rent a machine, put pages on it and thats it”). But I found the web-push-thing: the option was enabled in the plugin option – I disabled it and think, the message you saw is gone. But the page is slow as described and thats the thing:

    the only difference between both pages is the plugin version. Fast one runs with 0.9.84, the slow one with 0.9.85.3.

    The html on both pages is different – I see double images coming up and quite a few 404s of other images failing to load.

    The page is still very slow for me. I do wonder if there is some type of security thing going on because it is a subdomain. Try to downgrade the plugin on the test subdomain and see if the problem persists.

    @frenchomatic Of course they are different, based on production and test-stuff. But to be sure there is no plugin-conflict with any other plugin, I disabled every plugin except the AMP-plugin (what is also the reason why the test-page looks a little bit messi).

    I also exported the plugin-settings from production and imported it to the test-page. But the speed issue still persists.

    Pls leave me a note when you saw it, I will then downgrade to the version I use on production, so you can see, that this one works like charm

    OK it is 20:39 GMT and the page is still slow – now down grade it and I will look in the morning first thing. Lets make sure it is nothing to do with subdomain and everything to do with the plugin version – you’re probably right but lets eliminate anything to do with subdomains or your server set up for subdomains.

    By the way I have’t upgraded myself from 9.8.5.2 until I see several bug fixes regarding H1 titles with spurious spaces being injected, error 404 pages which get an AMP html tag injected and general management of error 404 pages under AMP takeover on some fairly specialized sites I am running. I have made my own custom edits to solve those issues in 9.8.5.2 and I don’t want to keep doing – I tend to wait until things get fixed.

    At the end of the day, we should all remember that we don’t have to upgrade if things are working well.

    The plugin developers are doing their best and it is a great plugin which is mostly free.

    Downgrade is done.

    “At the end of the day, we should all remember that we don’t have to upgrade if things are working well.” Are you serious? How can you get new features or important security patches with this in your mind? Of course you always have to update and keep all plugins and the whole system up2date.

    And your last sentence makes me think: you are not a developer to this plugin? If so, pls wait with me for an answer from the developers, which are way more in details what has changed between the version – some blind stab around in the dark will not really lead to any good or working solution.

    But yes, you are right, they do their best and its not a complaint by me – its more a hint that something isn’t working for me and maybe for others too. The other way could be to not say anything, be disappointed about the behaviour and don’t use the plugin anymore. But I guess thats also not very helpfull … For me its always some kind of symbiosis: the developer developed some cool stuff and the users help to find bugs, have ideas for new features etc.

    No I am not a developer for this plugin but I have been working on wordpress since the very beginning. Yes you should upgrade but it isn’t an emergency. If you keep backups and use a good firewall then that mitigates most security issues. Only people that don’t do backups find themselves in trouble. This plugin developer offers upgrades every other week. You won’t have long to try out the next version. If you see a developer really pushing an upgrade for secuirty reasons that is a different matter.

    Your downgraded page is running correctly. So yes it is most likely a modification in the plugin which is making your server choke on something or there is a new plugin conflict which wasn’t there before. Your choice is to now wait for a developer response or try to profile where the problem is occurring.

    I told you what approach I take to upgrade and I don’t get problems.
