Spider Event Calendar incredibly slow?

I have loaded the Spider Event Calendar and placed the calendar on a page. However when I view the calendar and try to month to month it takes an incredibly long time to do so.
I am on BT Infinity and the speed for other sites IS OK so I know it’s not my internet connection.
So, why is it so slow?
