Hi, i noticed that there is a spike in Excluded by ‘noindex’ tag, and i discovered most of the pages are from product tags. I didn’t apply noindex to product tags on the plugin setting. I wonder what’s the reason behind it.

By the way, i recently changed the urls for product tags (as well as product categories, but they aren’t affected) by removing base slug: from .com/shop/dark-spot-toner/ to .com/dark-spot-toner/ using the Permalink Manager for WooCommerce plugin. I’m not sure if this is the reason.

Also, i did disable index for product tags with previous seo plugin rankmath, but it was long removed. I also don’t know if their setting is still in the database causing the issue.

Could you check on it? Appreciate it.

    Hi again!

I just inspected all the page types you mentioned, and I couldn’t find any apparent reason why Google Search Console would spike reporting for “Excluded by ‘noindex’ tag.”

I suspect you’re facing a delayed report from Google. Is the trend of the “Affected pages” graph going downward, and the trend of the “Page with redirect” going up?

Example Google Search Console graph showing a downward trend

Hi, thanks for your reply. Could you please take a look at these product tag pages, they are all affected by the same “Page is not indexed: Excluded by ‘noindex’ tag” ; Indexing allowed? No: ‘noindex’ detected in ‘robots’ meta tag

    https://cultfave.com/silicone-free-moisturizer/
    https://cultfave.com/hydrating-essence/
    https://cultfave.com/vegan-moisturizer/

    .. and 400+ more

As long as google fetch them, these pages will be put under Excluded by noindex tag.

    Hi again!

Checking those pages specifically, I still cannot see a reason for Google to state there’s a “noindex” tag.

But, if you look closely at Google Search Console’s report, you can see that the data is from June 14th (Last Crawl), which is over a month ago.

When did you switch from Rank Math to TSF? It takes time for Google to reparse all your pages and understand that TSF treats them differently. You can request reindexing to speed up this process, but I don’t think it’s a good use of your time: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/9012289?hl=en#request_indexing.
