    I quote from the documentation

    Introduces the wpcf7-spinner class that replaces the ajax-loader class.

    and the spinner has indeed disappeared.
    What action should be done in order to see it again?

    …email now sending (spam resolution) but the ajax spinner (or any other hint that the form is processing) is still missing.

    I see that your message hasn’t been answered yet either, I had the same question and my spinner is gone too. It disappeared after updating the form to the latest patch. ?? Where is the help?

    The only way to see a spinner again is to use the tag [submit].
    Any attempt to hook to a class or an icon, like this:

    <button type="submit" name="submit" class="my-class">send <i class="fa fa-envelope-o"></i></button>
    <img class="ajax-loader" src="/contact-form-7/images/ajax-loader.gif" alt=".">

    are not supported anymore.
    Even adding a class like [submit class:my-class] will not show the spinner.
    Quite a step back!
