I’m starting to get more notifications from my web host that Wordfence is causing a “spinning process” and eating up CPU. I never used to get this. I’ve reset the options to standard and even set it to the lowest form of scan but I’m still having problems. I have had to disable the plugin on some of my sites and may have to abandon it altogether. I’ll copy some of my hosts message below but I hesitate to copy it all publically.

One of your processes has been using over 90% CPU for over 30 minutes.

    Here is the process information:

  • Hi @stmedia,

Do scans complete on those sites? Can you see any errors in the PHP logs?

    Hi @stmedia,
Sorry to hear you are having problems with the scan. We have some recommendations that may help here. It looks like you are using an old PHP version for example. Upgrading that should help with performance issues on your site.

    Hope that helps!
