split test URLs

I would like to give each variation of my split tested landing page a unique URL – e.g. instead of https://www.domain.com/landing-page-url and https://www.domain.com/landing-page-url/?lp-variation-id=1 as my A/B pages, I would like https://www.domain.com/landing-page-url and https://www.domain.com/landing-page-url-1 as my A/B pages. Unfortunately when I change the permalink, this doesn’t happen. I have verified that my .htaccess file is updateable. Is this possible? Am I missing something?
