• I’m working on (another) guide for WP.
This one will cover moving your blog to another domain.
Dumping my db and importing it into xampp was trouble free.
Another sql dump from someone else’s site did not work until I had opened up the dump, found an error in it which was breaking subsequent data and removed that table.
I would be interested to try importing other sql dumps to see if there are any common problems, the goal being that a WP user would have something to follow should they move domains.
All I will do with the data is run a change on the file, then try to import in into a testblog and see if it works. Once that is achieved, I will delete the database and the sql file.
If you want to help, could you send me an sql dump ? I would like to know how the dump was got (command line / phpmyadmin / oneclickbackup) and the mysql / phpmyadmin version. Compression level does not matter.
If I can’t get anywhere, I’ll pass all the relevant information onto the devs.
Mails up to 10meg can be sent to
    tamba2 at gmail dot com
    Thanks.
