SQL error after installing through 123reg

  • Hi,

    Have web hosting through 123reg and installed wordpress through their 123 apps and followed the instructions on how to install, changing the database name etc. But when I try to enter the administrative interface I receive the following error –

    Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Can’t connect to local MySQL server through socket ‘/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock’ (2) in /websites/123reg/LinuxPackage23/no/is/es/noisesurgeon.com/public_html/wordpress/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1017
    Error establishing a database connection

    This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

    Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
    Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
    Are you sure that the database server is running?

    I have rechecked all the details and everything seems ok
