SQL result next to menu name

You can add this in yourself by setting up the extra HTML code for your menus title. This is a copy-and-paste from what’s on one of my sites now:

<a href="update-core.php">Updates <span title="1 WordPress Update, 3 Plugin Updates" class="update-plugins count-4"><span class="update-count">4</span></span></a>

You would add in the <span> tags like that with your number (instead of the 4 that’s there now), and it will show up with the “update” circles like the other items.

@catacaustic: Thanks for this, I’ve been trying to figure this out for a week! Problem is that it always displays the same number. Any way to get it to update the number automatically? Perhaps using some kind of variable instead of the actual number? Thanks!

Well yes… You just use the result from the SQL query that you said you had worked out. That’s all that it needs.

$number = $wpdb->get_var ('SELECT COUNT(id) FROM my_table');
