• Hi!

I’m getting these kinds of errors since updating my WordPress installation via the Auto-Updates plugin:

“You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘TYPE=MyISAM’ at line 9 on line: 1471”
    AND
“Warning: An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with www.ads-software.com or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums. (WordPress could not establish a secure connection to www.ads-software.com. Please contact your server administrator.) in /home/debora2/public_html/blog/wp-includes/update.php on line 287”

My host advises this comes from WordPress’ use of openSSL. They suggest I use the core control plugin (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/core-control/).

However, the advise on the core control page is that this plugin is no longer supported. And besides, as a novice user I’m not keen to dabble in the dark arts of core control.

Does anyone have more novice-friendly advice on how to deal with these openSSL issues?

Thanks in advance for your time!

    D.
