Hey, I’ve been following along closely since the first botched launch of the 2.X series of this plugin. I am the lead developer for a large design/development studio and have a few sites using this plugin. Version 2.0.3 has been working well on all but one site. All of the sites use custom built themes, but on the site where it does not work, I am getting the “Payment nonce is missing” error.

I’ve done all of the standard things such as disabling other plugins, checking my theme code, etc, and the ONLY thing that gets it working again is to revert back to 1.0.38. So, my question would be, what has changed in the nonce process between 1.0.38 and 2.x? There is an obvious regression in there somewhere, otherwise something critical was changed with absolutely no notice given. I can give logs, but again, they probably won’t help, because I’ve changed every other variable one at a time and the issue clearly lies in the plugin itself somewhere (or a change/requirement adjustment that was never mentioned).

Thankfully I was able to roll the plugin back for that client, and they were able to continue on their busiest day of the year (small town with a college, this is move-in weekend).

It would be great to get some help on this!

Hi @willpresleyev,

Thank you for this information! Usually Nonce errors are an issue with the API connecting via Square. For this, are you disconnecting, updating, then manually reconnecting? The reason I ask is because ver. 2+ is *vastly* different than ver. 1+, in the methods that it utilizes the tokenization it connects with.

Sometimes when updating the plugin will push old data from the 1+ ver which conflicts with the 2+ version. The best solution here would be to do the following:

– Disconnect Square completely
– Disable, delete plugin
– Reinstall plugin
– Reconfigure via walkthrough

After this, if you have to sync for products then manually sync between WooCommerce > Square, and make sure to set the Product system of record for the origin of where you are syncing. Once that is done, do a test purchase and see if the items work.

If they do not, check the logs and see if it is the same. If it is, let me know. If it is different, post those logs here. I look forward to hearing back from you!

Hi Mike W,

Your solution is the one that worked for me. However it took a while via Google search to find it. Can you maybe post your steps in the plugin update how-to within WordPress? Or maybe I missed it there? Either way, to have this info before I installed the plugin would have been super helpful.

I am glad the solution worked for you! This particular issue is common for Nonce errors, and I am compiling a document that hopefully can be stickied (have to get permission) to the top of the site here at least.

If you know of more tips/tricks feel free to post them here, that way I do not miss anything.
