I am stress testing my sites, running load tests with loader.io with approximately 5000 visitros within 60 seconds, in one of my sites running on the litespeed web server. Meanwhile I have the Easy auto refresh chrome plugin refreshing my page every 3 or 5 seconds. I can consistently see that all of the page is loading except for the slider which sits right after the header, on the very top of pretty much everything else. I am wondering whether I must configure smart slider some different way than I already have in order to make it more lightweight than its current state. I have converted all images to .webp prior to uploading them and using them on the slider, and I am pretty confident I have set all other settings based on the best practices for this WP plugin. Yet there seems to exist something that is holding SS3 back in terms of performance.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi @skredlemon

    I am not really sure:
-if you mean it takes more time for the pages with the slider to load
-or if you rather mean that the sliders on these pages don’t load at all?

If they just load slower, then I think the problem can be connected to that you either:
    -used too much images
    -too big images
-or images with too good quality
these factors can increase the time it takes for the browser to download and render the images.
In these cases, you should probably optimize your images even further, or maybe reduce the number of images that you use.
If you are not sure what is the problem exactly, then you should check the loading of the resources as you see here:

and that way you could find out which part of your site increase the loading exactly.

If you the slider doesn’t load at all, then I think the problem is caused by some kind of caching problem – probably Litespeed -, and maybe they cause a problem for our scripts.
So you should try excluding our files from their optimization as we suggest here.

If you still have a problem even after these, then please send us a link to the page where I can see the problem occur. If you don’t want to share the URL of your website on this forum, then feel free to get in touch with us over the ticket system:

    Hi @laszloszalvak ,

Thank you for the prompt reply. The slider is loading eventually, although it takes significantly longer compared to the rest of the page. I am pretty confident the images themselves are pretty optimized. Only one of the five is more than 100 at 111KB; the remaining four are circa 60KB or less.

As you have predicted correctly I wouldn’t like to publicly post the link to my site, therefore I have submitted a ticket with your ticketing system for your further investigation. I’ve included a link to this thread for your convenience.

    Please review and advise.

    Best,
    Konstantinos.
