This is more of a security question than anything else. I was reading over some recent WordPress suggested security measures and it mentioned not uploading/downloading files through FTP but to use SFTP instead. My question was about SFTP. If I am right, its not the same as SSH right? There are specific programs that handle SSH, and SFTP is a basic attempt at being like SSH, or am I wrong? If I am right and SFTP is lower than SSH, would it prevent that FTP security issue of someone getting ones FTP user account and such?

So I looked around a bit and it said to mostly make sure that you are using SFTP when transferring folders. My FTP program has that and I have been using it the whole time, so I am covered with this one.
