SSL certificate error

  • Anytime I try to install or update a plugin, I get the following error: “An error occurred while updating Image Hover Effects: Download failed. Problem with the SSL CA cert (path? access rights?)”
    I do not have an SSL certificate.
    The error is being called from the Update.php file in my wp-admin folder and it seems to be an intended error if an SSL cert. could not be successfully retrieved from www.ads-software.com (or .com not sure which).
    I’ve contacted my host several times with no luck

    anyone ever heard of this error? I see it all over google and the fix seems to be restart apache but I’ve asked my host (hostgator) to do that several times but doesn’t seem to change anything.
